Updated info about the features
We had a design meeting at the end of the february, where the features for the December release were evaluated once again. As a result, we have a somewhat final set of features in our hands. Here's a short list of the most important ones.
The current plan is that the game will support head-to-head online play. We have also planned to provide an online gaming site with a lobby, making it easy for people to find an online opponent to play with. There will be also online FBL world-ranking-system, gathering statistics of all the registered users. It is still a bit unclear whether we are able to lauch this site during the year 2010.
Content management using package-files
The content of the game will be package-based, meaning that it is possible to import data from add-ins packages to the game. Currently there are three package types designed, which are: player-package, team-package & league-package. We will also provide a tool, which you can use to create & maintain custom packages, which you can then share with your friends. With all of these package types you should be able to customize pretty much everything to get your custom league running with custom teams and players. With player packages, you are able create new players & manage existing ones. You can decide the outlook of the player by selecting the building blocks of the player from a set of assets provided by us. You can also manage the properties of the player, like speed or shot power and then store the players to a player package file, which can be imported to the game. With team packages, you are able to create new teams & manage existing ones. You can customize the team logo, jersey textures and line-ups for your team. We will provide jersey templates, which makes the customization process a bit more straightforward. League & tournament packages allow you to create a custom leagues & tournaments. Basically you are able to customize the teams which are playing, tournament logos and the playing system to make the experience as realistic as possible.
Authentic stick control
Authentic stick control allows player to perform various dekes and to protect ball in a more realistic way. We plan also to include possibility to perform air-hooks and other fancy stuff to spice up the gameplay. As a part of the authentic stick control, the player is able to hit the ball from air, up to knee height. Stick controls are performed using the right stick of the gamepad. For keyboard it is still open whether this feature is available or not.
